At times of bereavement, it is more important than ever that customer service is of the highest standard.

On an average day, Equiniti receives approximately 1,000 notifications of death across its business, which equates to more than 50% of the total number of deaths in the UK each year. In around a third of all cases, the notification comes from the deceased's primary relative or next of kin.

This unique insight allows us to gain an understanding of the needs of those affected and the emotional impact it can have. Our expert bereavement team are trained to support and guide family and friends through the stages of managing the affairs of an estate to completion, and provide advice about tax and legal requirements. One of our expert estate administration team can act as executor or administrator on the behalf of named executors, freeing the beneficiaries of the complex responsibilities involved.

We guide customers and the deceased's family and friends through the stages of the bereavement process.

1) Equiniti Bereavement Services starts by offering free support and guidance to customers. Through a number of channels, we educate them on the complexities their family and friends could face when they die, so they can plan ahead and make informed decisions.

2) On the customer’s death, we provide free impartial tax, legal and probate support and guidance (with the option to purchase fixed cost Estate Administration services) to the friends and family of the deceased.

3) Towards the end of the Estate Administration process, often six to nine months after the death, there is a natural opportunity to offer your organisation’s products and services to the deceased’s friends and family. Introducing these new investable clients to your business transforms an account closing process into a new client channel.
