Since the launch of the G-Cloud framework in 2012, Equiniti, which is based in Belfast, has won £2million worth of contracts for services across the UK and Ireland.
Equiniti, which is Microsoft Hosting Partner of the Year, provides a diverse range of services from payroll, human resources to complex case management and doctors’ revalidation.
The Government’s G-Cloud framework allows public sector organisations to source approved suppliers of technology services in a much more efficient manner than the historic procurement processes. The G-Cloud framework avoid long contracts, allows organisations to buy exactly what they need, while saving money on having to manage their own maintenance and physical storage, or building their own solutions which historically can take a long time to create, are expensive and difficult to upgrade.
Nigel Farr, Equiniti director, said: “G-Cloud has revolutionised the way government departments can buy services. Historically, there were significant barriers for SMEs doing business with government which meant that smaller providers often missed out; furthermore, it is well known that often the government procurement process was dominated by large corporate suppliers who did not always provide the best solution or necessarily value for money. G-Cloud has helped overcome this as it has created a virtual marketplace that allows approved providers, many of which are SMEs, to competitively tend for business, the result being the Government has better value technology services provided faster.”
