Introducing Bryce Berndt, Systems Support Analyst

Share about your role at EQ.

Hi! I’m Bryce Berndt and I am part of the Production Support team and the SUNSTAR Support team. We make sure our internal systems remain operating and functional, as well as support data extracts for internal and external clients.

What is something special about your location?

I have been based in our Mendota Heights location, but being able to work from home, my office is now in Eagan. Eagan is an amazing location as it is only a short drive to the office, the Mall of America, or St. Paul. Another amazing thing about where we live is that we always see amazing wildlife (deer, owls) right out our window or on nearby walking paths.

What has happened in your career thus far?

I started my career at Wells Fargo as a Teller and was promoted to Lead Teller. I then came to Shareowner Services in the Contact Center, taking calls on the front end and assisting shareholders with their various needs (ownership change, sales address updates, etc.) I moved into the Investment Plan Services (IPS) team in 2015, making purchases (voluntary cash and dividend purchases) for the portfolio of clients assigned to me. I left Shareowner Services briefly to work with bonds and in HR. Eventually, I found myself back “home” at what had now become EQ working as a Business Application Specialist/Analyst supporting our core recordkeeping platform. It wasn’t until recently that I started supporting the Production Support team, making sure the applications our business uses daily are fully functioning. Although I have had a few different roles internally and externally, I really enjoy working in IT. I don’t think I would be where I am today, doing what I enjoy by supporting my colleagues, the shareholders we support, and our clients, without the career path I have forged along the way.

What do you love about your work?

What I love about my job is what I do every day. Supporting two different teams means my day is never the same. I am constantly learning, which helps me grow and become more successful in my career. Another thing that I love about my job is that I get to work with some amazing people who are all here for the same reason: helping our clients and EQ succeed. I love that EQ realizes we are all here to work hard and do our very best every day. They also recognize that time away from work is equally important, and I am thankful for the PTO we are given. I also met my wife at EQ, and it has been pretty amazing working together.

What is your biggest EQ achievement?

I would say that being chosen to be a part of the EQ Expert Series is an awesome achievement. Being called an expert at what I do my best at each day is quite an honor.

What are you looking forward to in the future at EQ?

Right now, I feel EQ is in a great spot. Things are always changing. I was resistant to change before and found it hard at times to keep up with. However, I have learned that change is a good thing throughout the years, and am looking forward to seeing EQ grow as a business and where the future takes us.

Share a fun fact about yourself.

A fun fact about myself is that I love watching/spotting airplanes. If I am not working, you can find my family and me at the Airport Spotting Area nearby, getting pictures of airplanes taking off or landing. Another fact about me is that I love to travel. We are always thinking about the next trip our family will take. We have gone to a few fun places recently: Arizona, Tennessee, and Florida.
