Introducing Wilma Yuan, ADR, Relationship Manager!

Over the years, I have made some fantastic and long-term friendships at EQ, including both EQ team members and clients.

Share about your role at EQ.

Hi everyone! I’m Wilma Yuan, a Relationship Manager within our American Depositary Receipts (ADR) group at EQ. I work closely with our ADR partner, and I manage a portfolio of clients located in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Japan. In addition to servicing my client portfolio, I also manage the ADR proxy voting during the annual meeting season.

My role is unique as I get the opportunity to work with virtually every department at EQ. I enjoy building relationships with those I interact with and genuinely want to get to know my colleagues and business partners. Over the years, I have made some fantastic and long-term friendships at EQ, including both EQ team members and clients.

What is something special about your location?

I am based out of our Mendota Heights, Minnesota office. However, I primarily work remotely from my home in St. Paul, Minnesota. I recently moved to a new neighborhood in St. Paul and have enjoyed exploring the local parks, trails, and farmers’ markets. Living in a larger city, I have been surprised by how much wildlife I have right in my backyard. My realtor didn’t tell me a family of three deer would be stopping by regularly to visit!

What has happened in your career so far?

My career in financial services started over 30 years ago when I joined the operations team at Norwest Bank (which later merged with Wells Fargo and then became EQ). I will never forget my very first day with the bank because, on that day, Minnesota received nearly 30 inches of snow during the Halloween blizzard!

I spent several years in various operational roles within the bank before making the move to Shareowner Services. My first position within Shareowner Services was in the Customer Care Center – then, in 2000, I joined the Relationship Management group as an associate. In 2008, the business partnered with a large financial services company to manage shareholder services for their growing ADR business. This new partnership brought the need for a dedicated ADR Relationship Management team, and I eagerly joined the new ADR team as an associate before being promoted in 2011 to my current role as Relationship Manager.

What do you love about your work?

Hands down – the people! Whether it’s EQ team members or our clients, the people I interact with daily are the best part of my job. Working together with my colleagues, we get to listen to our client’s needs and then develop custom solutions that make their lives better. I have formed some of my most trusted and valued relationships through my work with EQ.

What is your biggest EQ achievement?

One of my most memorable times with EQ was in 2008, when we brought in the ADR business. We built relationships, developed new processes, and created custom solutions to meet our ADR partners’ needs. This project impacted every department within EQ, and I am so proud of the entire business for what we accomplished. The last 14 years working with our ADR team have flown by, and I am excited to see us continue our partnership for many years to come.

What are you looking forward to in the future at EQ?

I am excited to be a part of a growing business. I look forward to meeting new colleagues and forming new relationships as our company expands and transforms.

Share a fun fact about yourself.

I love music, dancing, and traveling with friends and family – and it’s even better if I get to combine all three. One of my favorite places to visit is Jamaica, which conveniently checks each of those boxes. My best memories are those created from spending time with my friends and family.
