Tom Kies joins EQ to head up its Proxy Governance Business, Tom has been in the Proxy/Governance space for over 30 years. Most recently Tom was Executive Vice President for AST Financial, where he managed strategic accounts and worked on several of its proxy related acquisitions of DF King and the Altman Group, Tom also started up the AST Ownership Intelligence Group and managed Relationship Management and Sales.
Prior to joining AST, Tom was co-founder and Partner of the Laurel Hill Advisory Group, a specialized strategic consulting and advisory services firm. Prior to joining Laurel Hill, Tom was Executive Vice President at Computershare managing Relationship Management/Sales for North America, ultimately Tom helped manage its Georgeson division and its European Operations including the acquisition of Proxy Italia and Liberty Response Group in Australia.
Tom’s earlier career was at Shareholder Communications Corporation, where he assisted with several key acquisitions of Georgeson, Kissell Blake The Proxy Solicitation Company Ltd. (Canada) and CIC all major proxy players at the time. Tom also worked for DF King, Manufacturers Hanover and Morrow/Sodali where he held executive positions.
Tom is an active member of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals (SCSGP), an active member of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), Securities Transfer Association (STA), the Shareholder Services Association (SSA) The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) and the American Gas Association (AGA).
Tom’s knowledge of the global proxy picture, having spent significant time in Canada, Europe, South Africa and Australia help Equiniti grow its global progressive proxy business.
