Equiniti Retirement Solutions Joins PMI Development Partnership Programme

Wednesday, 21 January 2026

Partnership will elevate professional standards across pensions administration and technology.

Equiniti Retirement Solutions is delighted to announce that it has joined the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) Development Partnership programme, reinforcing its commitment to raising professional standards in pensions administration and technology both in the UK and internationally.

Through this collaboration, Equiniti Retirement Solutions will provide its 1,300 colleagues across the globe, including its growing colleague-base in India, with direct access to PMI’s education, training, and student membership. This initiative will create a unified global benchmark for knowledge and best practice across the business.

The PMI Development Partnership programme supports organisations in building and maintaining capability, consistency, and professionalism within their pensions workforce. With increasing expectations from government and The Pensions Regulator for higher standards, this partnership is designed to help protect millions of UK pension scheme members and beneficiaries by ensuring robust professional development.

Duncan Watson, CEO of Equiniti Retirement Solutions, said:

“Over the last year we’ve been re-professionalising learning for our colleagues, with a clear focus on pensions, so colleagues feel supported, educated and proud of the profession they’re part of. This partnership opens the door to the PMI’s respected and recognised pathways for every single one of our administrators and technology experts. It will allow our people to see a career, not just a job, and will give clients confidence that we’re investing in the right skills to deliver consistently excellent service.

“Equiniti Retirement Solutions is both an administration and a platform business. Too often platform teams don’t have enough pensions context. The PMI partnership brings that context to our engineers and developers, alongside administrators - from qualifications to seminars, mentoring and career guidance. In a high-volume, fast-paced environment, making development readily available is crucial for motivation, retention and progression.”

As part of the partnership, Equiniti Retirement Solutions employees will benefit from access to PMI learning pathways, insights, and professional networks, supporting career progression while embedding a common standard of knowledge and practice across all teams.

Varsha Gicas, Chief Customer Officer at the PMI, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Equiniti Retirement Solutions as our latest Development Partner and to support its ambition to provide consistent access to PMI education and training for colleagues across the UK and internationally.

“Professional standards are fundamental to delivering good outcomes for savers, particularly in a complex and fast-evolving pensions landscape. Our Development Partnership programme is uniquely placed to ensure high-quality learning and professional recognition is accessible in a practical, meaningful way. I look forward to working closely with Equiniti Retirement Solutions and all our current and future Development Partners.”

This partnership marks a significant step forward in Equiniti Retirement Solutions’ ongoing mission to invest in people, enhance professional excellence, and deliver outstanding service to clients, pension scheme members and beneficiaries.
