We caught up with Sunaina Bhogun as part of The EQ Experts series that spotlights our talented colleagues here at Equiniti.

In this Q&A Sunaina Bhogun, Corporate Governance Manager here at EQ lets us into her world and gives us insight into her career and what it's like working for EQ.

Sunaina Bhogun Sunaina Bhogun Corporate Governance Manager, EQ

Introduction and what your role is at EQ

I’m a qualified Corporate Governance Professional with over six years’ experience, specialising in remuneration. As a Corporate Governance Manager within EQ’s Proxy Team, I advise issuers as they prepare for their AGMs and GMs, and more recently have supported on M&A and activism situations. My role involves identifying governance risks across the range of resolutions put to shareholders by UK issuers, assessing potential voting outcomes and advising on how those risks can be mitigated.

What office are you located at?

I work out of the London Office, which I absolutely love for the connectivity it offers, both professionally and socially. It helps me build relationships with colleagues, attend corporate events, and remain engaged with the wider Group. I also have the flexibility to work remotely, which also works well as my direct team is spread across the UK. Despite the geography, collaboration is strong and I’ve built close working relationships.

What’s happened in your career up to this point?

My academic background in Economics and Business Finance gave me a strong commercial foundation, which I later deepened through a Masters in Corporate Governance. Early in my career, I also worked in the healthcare sector which shaped me both professionally and personally.

I ultimately chose to specialise in Corporate Governance. I began from an investor-facing perspective before moving into issuer advisory. Having worked from both sides of the governance landscape means I understand how proposals are designed and how they are scrutinised. The dual perspective enables me to anticipate potential concerns and support clients in navigating complex and often sensitive governance matters with confidence.

What do you like about EQ?

What I enjoy most about working at EQ is the combination of people and opportunity. I work alongside incredibly knowledgeable colleagues who are generous with their expertise, and within a culture that encourages learning and stepping up. EQ’s trusted position in the market also means we work closely with many large organisations and senior stakeholders, giving us exposure to high-profile governance challenges and the chance to make a meaningful impact.

What's your biggest EQ achievement?

One of my biggest achievements at EQ has been building the confidence and capability to advise on high stakes governance and remuneration matters, particularly in situations involving shareholder engagement and proxy advisor scrutiny. Being able to see the advice I’ve provided carried through to a successful outcome is rewarding and something I take great pride in.

What are you looking forward to in the future at EQ?

Looking ahead, I’m excited to hone my expertise, growing the business and to support new and existing clients as governance and shareholder expectations continue to evolve. It’s a constantly changing landscape and I look forward to helping our clients navigate it with confidence.

Do you have a fun fact to share?

Outside of work you’ll usually find me at the gym, reading, at the theatre or ballet, or out hiking when the weather cooperates.
