Cher Billins Cher Billins Resource Consultant in EQ Customer Resolutions

Introduction and what your role is at EQ

I am one of the Specialist Resource Consultants for our Customer Resolutions division. Working within the Reading Resourcing team, I help clients fill vacancies during pockets of pressure within their businesses. This can be because of special projects they are running, due to natural peaks and troughs throughout the year, or because they need additional support and hard to find expertise.

What office are you located at?

Reading, Berkshire. Next to Forbury Gardens which is lovely in summer and a great place for lunch times and a break from the day.

What’s happened in your career up to this point?

I’ve been in Recruitment for over 15 years and have seen much change in that time. One area where I have spent a large portion of that time is within onboarding teams where I specialised in application fraud. How such fraud is both committed and detected has become more sophisticated over the years and I have worked with CIFAS to help identify and prevent referencing houses. CIFAS (Credit Industry Faud Avoidance System) is a not for profit cross-sector fraud prevention service and database. It is so important in recruitment to ensure that onboarding checks are done thoroughly, not just because such fraud could be part of a wider criminal operation, but also to maintain the quality and credibility of EQ and deliver on our Trusted promise.

What do you like about EQ?

This answer might come as a surprise to those who know me, but the people! I have, and do, work with amazingly talented individuals who have been influential on my career at EQ, and helped me grow as an individual.

What's your biggest EQ achievement?

In the still quite short time I’ve been here I’ve already begun filling client vacancies and feel that I have really hit the ground running. It is so satisfying matching up the right people for our clients as you get to help deliver success for both clients and contractors.

What are you looking forward to in the future at EQ?

To see where I can progress to. I feel supported and encouraged to develop within my role and the wider business.

What hobbies do you enjoy?

I’m an empty nester so have tried to fill my time with baking, costumes for a local theatre group and supporting my favourite football team – Brentford 😊

A big thank you to Cher for sharing her thoughts with us.
