David Rosin Relationship Manager Introduction and what your role is at EQ
I’m a Relationship Manager with my own portfolio of clients. I began my career at Lloyds Registrars way back in 1989 and moved into the relationship team about 16 years go.
The clients I support range from large FTSE 100 companies to small caps and include both Investment Trusts and VCTs. Over the years, I have worked with many of the large fund managers in the UK.
What office are you located at?
I am based in Worthing which is very handy for London where many of my clients have their head offices.
I’ve worked at a few of the offices we’ve had in and around Worthing over the years and have seen lots of changes as our organisation has evolved over time. I’m currently at Highdown House and we’ve recently finished a major refurbishment of the building. It’s made such a huge difference to the working environment; its light and airy and we now have plenty of spaces to collaborate and meet.
What’s happened in your career up to this point?
The industry and my role have changed so much. When I started in the team, I earned my stripes as a Client Service Manager and quickly learned about the PLC landscape and how we support them through our share registration services. From that supporting role, I moved up to become a Relationship Manager.
As a Relationship Manager, I have accountability for all services we provide to our PLC clients. This is no longer just share registration but employee share plan services, investor relations and lots more! A key part of my role is helping our clients with formulating strategies for their shareholders and employees. I am still learning new things every week about the industry we work in, and about better ways we can help our clients.
What do you like about EQ?
This is said time and time again but overall, it’s the people. I couldn’t have done over 35 years without enjoying working with my EQ colleagues. I am not unusual in the length of my service, and I think that speaks volumes about the culture at EQ. We help and support each other and many are good friends.
What's your biggest EQ achievement?
One of my roles before joining the relationship team was as part of a project to move our client registers from the old DEC system to Sirius. I was heavily involved in developing the new client reporting functionality on Sirius. Fast forward 20 years or so, and I am part of the working party focused on building exciting new reports on our EQ Insight platform. I am championing the views of our clients and in understanding what will provide the most value to them. I’m very proud of where we’ve gotten to so far on EQ Insight, and clients are finding it much more intuitive to use and navigate. Watch out for more updates!
I’ve also been able to grow a huge network of client and ex-client contacts within the industry, many of whom I’ve kept in contact with after they’ve moved away from EQ as a provider when joining a new company. Those strong relationships have brought us quite a few new clients over the years; as old contacts working with other Registrars have reached back out to me, preferring the EQ way of working.
What are you looking forward to in the future at EQ?
A big focus the last few years, for my Investment Trust and VCT contacts, has been around FATCA and CRS and how we have shaped the service to meet the evolving requirements.
With CRS 2 coming, we now understand, after a few years, how to be more efficient with data collection and submissions. We are exploring better ways to support this important offering. We’ll share more when we can!
And of course, I’m looking forward to the continued progress of EQ Insight and delighting my clients with better functionality and more insightful reports.
Do you have a fun fact to share?
Over the last 20 years I have dedicated my weekends to managing and coaching my kids’ football teams. I’ve loved the special time with my kids, and being able to give back to my community, but I’m now looking forward to future weekends filled with golf instead!
A big thank you to David for sharing his thoughts with us.
