People are at the heart of all successful businesses. Within an organisation they help create culture, strengthen belief, and build meaningful connections with clients and customers. That’s why we’ve invested in our colleagues more than ever.

Throughout 2023 EQ has been investing in colleagues, their environment and technology, to help improve everyday life for our 6,500 + workforce here at EQ. We wanted to share a brief update of our progress and activities.

Time to put these values into context, with some of the initiatives we’ve been working on this year.

The awards reflecting EQ’s global standing:

We’re ‘Trusted’ to deliver our commitments.

We’re proud to announce we’ve been recognised globally for our work on employee engagement and have been given Top Employer accreditation for 2023 in the UK, U.S and India. We were ‘Highly Commended’ at the recent #CIPD People Management Awards for our Employee Experience Initiatives. Plus, we won Best Employee Engagement Strategy at the HR Excellence awards!

Seeing the ‘LEAP’ in our Training:

Building upon colleagues’ ‘Commercial’ knowledge

This year we launched the largest development programme EQ has ever delivered. LEAP (Lead, Engage, Align, Perform) is a transformative course aligning colleagues’ skills and understanding with the future direction of EQ and how it plans to get there.

The training helped EQ colleagues understand how they could fully bring the EQ Values to life and how to be more commercially minded. It's a significant investment in our people, to equip leaders, managers, and teams with the emerging skills we need to build a stronger EQ for the future. Every colleague at EQ has been involved in this training and we’ve seen some very positive feedback from colleagues post training.

About the LEAP programme Andrew Stephenson, Chief People Officer at EQ said: “It is truly an investment to give our teams the tools to perform at their best. It’s about helping individuals to bring their best selves into every task, work or otherwise,  and enable them to deliver in an optimised, collaborative  way with their colleagues.”

Investing in our offices:

It’s all about space to ‘Collaborate’

Having good collaborative spaces for colleagues to work together is important for our business, that’s why in 2023 we’ve invested millions of pounds in improving our office locations. This includes our Birmingham Customer Experience Centre, our centre of excellence in India, our location in Worthing on the south coast of England, and we opened a brand-new space in central London. All offices have been kitted out with the latest technology. We welcome clients to visit our spaces, and recently received this feedback from our client at SAGA Plc:

Our recent visit to the EQ Birmingham office was incredibly interesting. The investment and thought that has gone in to maximising the collaboration between teams is inspiring. We left feeling confident that the team have the tools to deliver the high standards that we expect.

An EQ Summer of fun:

The chance to ‘Improve’ and build upon working relationships.

It’s important for us to promote an inclusive culture and inspire our colleagues to get involved in activities that matter to them.

This summer, as before, we were proud to join the parades at Worthing and Birmingham Pride.  

We hosted our annual walking challenge where 550 colleagues from across the globe challenged themselves to see how many steps, they could complete in teams of three throughout the month of July.

Plus, 2500 (nearly half of us) found some time to have fun at our global summer socials. They were all opportunities to collaborate and build strong working relationships with each other.

All the EQ Feels in One Social Place

At EQ we use #LifeatEQ to share our culture, careers and people around the globe called #LifeatEQ, the best of this is showcased on our Instagram channel. Each day, we upload new content from around the globe sharing our passions and the things most important to us here at EQ.
